Wish Come True
Back in the day, I did a lot of segments where I helped spotlight promising games people may not have heard of yet. And though it’s been a minute since I did that at HPP, today calls for it. Because there’s a really great game by a talented developer, and I suspect many of you haven’t heard of it yet. That game is called Deathwish Enforcers.
Developed by Monster Bath Studios Inc., the creator of Insanity’s Blade & Battle Princess Madelyn, and featuring amazing music by Gryzor87, Deathwish Enforcers is a love letter to arcade games of old, as well as action films from the ’60s and ’70s. As someone that has played both Battle Princess Madelyn and Insanity’s Blade, I can confidently say that Monster Bath knows classic video games, as well as being dedicated to lush and detailed pixel artwork and challenging yet fair gameplay.
While it’s definitely better to play arcade games in actual arcades, those are pretty hard to come by these days. So the next best thing is to get Deathwish Enforcers as a physical game. You’re in luck there, since Limited Run Games still offers copies of the game for Switch, PS4, and PS5, and pre-orders are open until May 14th. So that’s ten more days to throw a little cash at a promising, retro-inspired indie adventure.
Best of all, the game features co-op with friends as well as four playable characters – Chuck, Diana, Larry, and Cleo. While Deathwish Enforcers may look more like Final Fight or Streets of Rage, it leans into the crazy, dark stuff like full-blown demons and zombie mayhem. Add in 7 levels to fight your way through and epic boss battles, and this is definitely a game to put on your radar – especially since you can get it digitally or physically, which is always a plus.
If you’re still not convinced, please check out the extra funky trailer below. And be sure and snag a copy of this arcade delight while you still can!
