Well, this wasn’t the Shantae news I was expecting in 2024, but I’m happy for it nevertheless! Today in a shocking move, Limited Run Games and WayForward revealed that the sought after, rare physical release of Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse is getting one more print run! Starting on January 26th, collectors can order a copy of this amazing 3DS entry in the platformer series.

A fan-favorite returns for one final go on Nintendo 3DS! Independent game studio WayForward, along with publisher Limited Run Games, is excited to announce that a new physical printing of the beloved video game Shantae and the Pirate’s Curse will be available to purchase starting January 26, 2024. Ordered for manufacture on the last day before North American Nintendo 3DS game card production was discontinued, this swashbuckling adventure is rated T by the ESRB and will be available exclusively via limitedrungames.com.

If that wasn’t exciting enough, there’s going to be two different editions of Pirate’s Curse. The standard edition going for $34.99, complete with the physical game and manual, as well as the collector’s edition. That premium version goes for $64.99, but comes with some amazing goodies, including a reversible poster, soundtrack CD, replica Game-Boy cartridge, art cards and more!

While I always love gaming on my Switch, the 3DS also holds a fond place in my heart. And since I wasn’t able to pick up a physical copy the first time around, you can bet this genie fan will be looking to snag this buried treasure.
