Nintendo’s portly plumber is mostly absent from the PC, not counting a slew of forgettable edutainment titles. This hasn’t stopped dedicated aficionados from attempting to recreate that magical platforming formula in their free time, with results that range from casual clones to fully-fledged, faithful fan games. Sadly, the vast majority of these efforts are amateurish, first-try attempts at game creation, yet there are a few diamonds hidden in the mountains of trash.
