Star Ocean The Second Story R – Centropolis to North City Walkthrough: Made it to Chapter 2
Looks like we’ve survived the catastrophe, and even better we’ve managed to make it to another planet thanks to sheer luck and a little bad planning from the Ten Wise Men. Once you wake up, it’s time to deal with a bit of talking. After everyone is set and ready, make your way toward the only direction you can go, where you’ll hear a voice and make your way inside an elevator.
Welcome to Centropolis better yet welcome to Energy Nede a planet or what’s left of one that was previously devastated by the Ten Wise Men. Here, we will meet with Nall, who’s supposed to be the mayor of sorts, and even more talking will take place. Here, the mayor will tell you to head to North City to get a Psynard so you can travel around. Honestly, if you want, you can go ahead and make your way to the city to get any preparation done, as there aren’t any chests in this building. You can, however, sell books to someone in this building, so it’s something worth noting for easy Fol.
Once you’re outside in the town square area, head to the ! located to the top right, where you’ll run into a character you can recruit later on named Chisato.
Head to the center of the town square, where we will find our next Unique Spot- Faded City of the Future, which nets us 10000 EXP and Amoeba Soup.
Once you have finished all your shopping and chatting in the town it’s time to head to North City so make your way to the World Map, make sure you save before heading out.
Heading to North City
Before heading to North City, let’s make a few stops and see a few sights along the way. As soon as you exit Centropolis, look to your left. There will be a path heading off towards the side of the town. Just make your way north a bit, and you’ll see the way down to your left. Follow this path all the way down, and we’ll find the next Unique Spot- The Energy Field, which grants 10000 XP and Mithril Coat+.
You’re going to need the bunny to obtain the next two items, so you might as well summon him now. Make your way back to the main path and continue straight ahead. Eventually, you’ll see rock formations on both sides of you, climb the ones to the right, and make your way to the end of the mountain. Here, you’ll find a chest with The Bestiary x3 inside.
Continue on the main path, where you’ll see North City straight ahead. Before entering the town, look to the left, and you’ll see a chest containing Slimy Gelatin.
Once you’ve collected this item, head into town.
North City
We’ve made it to North City; honestly, I’m still wondering where the actual “city” is here. Nevertheless, let us make our way towards the ! symbol, however, make sure you shop around first since we encounter another recruitable character scene here, so make sure to check out the insert name here guide to see what to do.
Once this scene is done, continue towards the ! Until you see a path split off to the left, make your way inside the building, and you’ll find the next Unique Spot- Nepedia, which grants us 10000 XP, Operation Manual x3, and Engineer’s Handbook x3 once you’re done here head back out and make your way to the ! Symbol.
Once inside the building, head over to the receptionist and speak with them to confirm that you’re here to get yourself a Psynard. After a bunch of talking scenes, you’ll be thrust into a battle with the very Psynard you were just supposed to be hitching a ride on.
Psynard Boss Battle
HP: 255000 EXP: 64000 FOL: 10000
Weaknesses: N/A
Item Drops: Mind Ring
Honestly, this fight is pretty basic and can be made to be easy as heck, depending on your level. I was about level 62 at this point, and we just pummeled this boss fairly easily. While this creature is massive, his damage is not, so Rena will be able to keep you guys topped up without much trouble. This creature has no massive team kill attacks or spells to deal huge damage, so you don’t have to worry about that.
I went full melee here using Bowman, Claude, Welch, and, of course, Rena and just stayed on the creature until it was finished. Even though it’s a flying monster, he’s so massive that you’ll still be able to hit it pretty freely. Welch’s
After a few rounds of spamming your Specialty Skills for a few rounds this mad beast will go down for good.
Noel’s House
After agitating the researchers, we’ll go through a few talking scenes with Artis, and he’ll vaguely mention another way to obtain a Psynard. Once the talking is done, head to the ! symbol located in his office, and you’ll be transported to some random location.
As soon as you can move, go to the chests on both sides of the room to obtain 20000 Fol and Life in Nature. Exit the room once you’re done and open the chest to your left containing Pet Food x3.
Head up the stairs where you’ll meet Noel Chandler a recruitable character you’ll be able to grab later on so head over to our character recruitment guide to see how to obtain another cat-eared companion. Once all the chit-chatting is resolved, it’s time to make our way out of the house and head toward the Cave of Crimson Crystals.
