Star Ocean Second Story -R Lacuer Front Line Base Walkthrough
We’re here at the Lacuer Front Line Base, and outside of a bunch of talking and one or two small battles, there’s not much to do here, so buckle up for lots and lots of cutscenes. Of course, head to the save point and save super-fast. Head towards the ! symbol where you’ll run into a shop. Go ahead and buff yourself as much as possible and keep heading upstairs. Bypass the ! symbol and head to the exit all the way at the end of the hallway. Head outside, where you’ll find another Unique Spot- The Lacuer Hope, which will net you 1000 XP and X Clip+.
Now that we’ve finished up here, go ahead and head back to the room with the ! symbol and rest. This will trigger a quick conversation where Rena will follow her big bro.
After learning a bit about Dias’s past, you’ll see a bunch of ! symbols to go and converse with, so let’s get to it.
Once you’ve talked to everyone, head towards the next ! symbol where you may want to take the time to get prepped for a quick boss fight.
Once you are ready to go head outside, yet another scene will kick off, where we will face off against one of the stronger foes we will face, named Cynne.
Cynne Boss Fight
This boss technically can’t be beaten, so just survive, or if you’re strong enough, drop his health to 50% or lower. Once the battle is over, you’ll get to see the power of the Lacuer Hope, and Leon will also gift you with the Thunder Puncher if you have Precis on the team instead of Bowman. After all the talking is said and done, you’ll end up back at the save point, just head back inside to the infirmary, then head back out to where we fought Cynne for more scenes.
Once these play out, head to the ! Symbol where more talking will take place back in Lacuer Castle. We’ll learn of the battle plan to transport the Lacuer Hope and wipe out the monster nest in the Ell Kingdom.
After chatting it up in Lacuer, we’ll be transported to Hilton, where we prepare to ship off to Ell; this will be the last time we see Lacuer for a long time, so say goodbye. As the ship makes its way to our destination, we end up being attacked by Cynne and the gang once again, and this time, they mean business.
Cynne Boss Fight 2
This is technically one you’re supposed to lose, but there are some ways to get around his team wipe ability or just lock him down. It all depends on your weapon, your level at that time, as well as your Combat Skills level. I had to fight him more than once to learn how to bypass this fight, but it honestly changes nothing in terms of the story.
If you’re at least level 55 and above and have either the Sword of Marvels or Aeterna, you should be able to lock him down by spamming a maxed-out Meteor Palm over and over while using your assault characters at the right time. Just have everyone focus him down and stay on him like glue, and you’ll eventually wear him down.
If you made it this far below level 53, you might just want to try and let the beating take place, but you may be able to get away by just beating him down, depending on your equipment.
Either way, a scene will take place where everyone is pretty much thrown into the ocean, and it seems all hope is lost.
Claude and Leon will eventually wash up on a beach, and after some talking and slapping some sense into the kid, it’s time to go find our friends!
